“Transforming the Future for People and Planet” Event at United Nations Headquarters Announced the People+Planet Project, a New Action Network for Social Good to Support the Sustainable Development Goals

New Platform Will Launch Its First Phase January 1, 2016, to Help the World Achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals Over the Next 15 Years

NEW YORK, NY, Oct 2, 2015 – Days after the United Nations General Assembly adopts the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a new post-2015 initiative to support these universal objectives was introduced at an event in the UN Visitors Plaza “We the Peoples Hub.”

The People+Planet Project (P+PP), an initiative from The Global Brain Foundation and PVBLIC Foundation, is a new action network for social good created to support the SDGs over the next 15 years. On September 29, the P+PP was unveiled to the public at an event called “Transforming the Future for People and Planet.”

Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning, appeared at the event to speak about the SDGs and the P+PP.

“What you’ve had to show us is amazing,” said Ms. Mohammed to Vega-Berry in regard to the P+PP’s development. “[The] People+Planet [Project] is about connecting communities, solutions, and challenges to try to make [the goals] real over time. We’ve got 15 years; a 15-mile hike.”

Founder of The Global Brain and the P+PP Natalia Vega-Berry created the P+PP platform to empower a community of individuals, businesses, nonprofits, NGOs, and organizations to consume consciously, profit responsibly and live purposefully to achieve the SDGs.

“This is a great opportunity for the global community, as we are just beginning to understand the possibilities we can create for the future,” said Vega-Berry. “People are demanding change. We want more sustainable and inclusive business models. We must be disruptive and bold as we work together to change the world’s ecosystem and achieve the SDGs.”

Chairman and Co-Founder of PVBLIC Foundation Sergio Fernandez de Cordova stated: “We highly value our partnership with P+PP as it highlights the imperative need for reciprocal and transparent partnerships in order to accomplish the SDGs.”

“We welcome the involvement of Amina J. Mohammed, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning, Christina Gallach, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, and Dan Thomas, Communications Director and Spokesperson for the President of the United Nations General Assembly, 70th Session in launching P+PP,” said Mr. Fernandez de Cordova, “as it reinforces the commitment to the underlying mission of #SDG 17, which emphasizes that it is through partnerships that success will be made possible. Each of the goals are interconnected and we must work together in order to create impact.”

During the event, Theo Cosmora, the founder and CEO of SocialEco, shared a surprise presentation of the SDG Games with the event’s attendees, a new initiative in collaboration with the P+PP and PVBLIC Foundation that aims to create awareness around the SDGs through engaging, educational games.

“We developed the world’s first SDG games, beginning with two games, SDG1 and SDG3, that focus on the first and third of the SDG, poverty and health, respectively,” said Cosmora. “The SDG Games will help creative global awareness of the SDGs and their objectives through simple, educational mobile games. Increased awareness and education on the goals via fun and competitive mobile games will accelerate their achievement.”

SocialEco is dedicated to empower a cutting edge and holistic Social Economy Ecosystem that empowers people, builds business, and supports the planet.

Jules Schroeder, founder of CreateU and an early collaborator with the P+PP, told the event’s attendees about her new online platform to reimagine higher education.

“CreateU’s focus is to educate our youth with relevant skills, like how to share ideas, network with peers, and become conscious consumers, so the next generation has the resources needed to reshape our planet,” said Shroeder. “Education is the starting block for transformation and upgrading the current global system to help us accomplish these goals.”

Launching its first phase January 1, 2016, the P+PP platform will support the global community’s necessary shift to more sustainable lifestyles and business models. The P+PP will provide content, tools, and calls to action to facilitate this transformation and help make the SDGs a mainstream priority until 2030.

The Global Brain is a creative-innovation agency headquartered in Boulder, CO, that works collectively to promote causes, organizations, and brands that support a sustainable future.

The first two SDG Games created by SocialEco, SDG1 and SDG3, are available to download now from the Android Play Store. IOS versions of the games are due to be launched on the Apple App store in October 2015. SocialEco has developed four other games and are refining them to launch a minimum of 10 SDG Games to cover the main SDGs sectors. Find more information about the SDG Games at http://sdggames.com/ and download SDG1 and SDG3 at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.socialeco.sdg1 and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.socialeco.sdg3&hl=en.

Blind Clinical Study of NuGene’s Light and Bright Gel™ Shows 89% of Participants Experience a 50% or More Improvement in Their Hyperpigmentation Appearance

IRVINE, CA, Sep 29, 2015 – NuGene International, Inc. (“NuGene”) (OTCQB: NUGN), a developer, manufacturer and marketer of advanced skin and hair care lines utilizing adipose derived human stem cells and stem cell media, was recently featured in a study and presentation by Dr. Dendy Engelman, a NuGene Advisory Board member and Director of Dermatological Surgery at New York Medical College. The presentation of the results occurred at the 6th Five-Continent Congress on Lasers and Aesthetic Medicine held September 3-6 in Cannes, France.

Dr. Engelman’s presentation titled, Potent Human Adipose Derived Stem Cell Treatments Revolutionizing Topical Anti-Aging Therapy, described a limited study performed to assess the efficacy of NuGene’s Light and Bright Gel in improving the appearance of skin pigmentation. In the study, blinded investigators observed an improvement in skin pigmentation appearance with all patients where:

  • 33% of patients experienced a 50% improvement in skin appearance
  • 56% of patients experienced a 75% improvement in skin appearance

The subjects of the study were females between the ages of 30 to 60 years old, with hyperpigmentation on the face with moderate severity. The products used in the study featured NuGene’s unique stem cell based technology employing a high concentration of bioactive molecules from stem cell culture media derived from human adipose stem cells.

In the study, the information was collected by an independent investigator who was provided with photographic evidence showing before and after images of the participants and concluded that there was significant improvement in the lack of the appearance of aging. Images of participants before and after the use of the product can be viewed here.

“NuGene’s Light and Bright Gel provides an innovative approach to skin and hair rejuvenation. Clinical findings from topical application of NuGene’s product yielded results, in my opinion, previously only attainable by in-office procedures. I have been overwhelmed by the efficacy of this product and am thrilled to offer this product line to my patients,” remarked Dr. Engelman.

“Dr. Engelman presented NuGene’s non-hydroquinone based solution for hyperpigmentation aesthetics to some of the world’s top dermatologists and aestheticians. NuGene has a significant opportunity to impact this expanding market,” said Dr. Saeed Kharazmi, Chairman and co-founder of NuGene. Hydroquinone, a common component of bleaching creams, has already been banned in Japan, the European Union, and Australia due to potential cancer concerns.

According to the Global Industry Analysts, Inc. (GIA), the global market for Skin Lighteners is projected to reach US$23 billion by 2020, driven by the desire among both women and men to have even-toned skin.

About Dr. Dendy Engelman
Dr. Engelman is a board certified dermatologic surgeon and an associate at Manhattan Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and American College of Mohs Surgery (a procedure that removes skin cancer under local anesthetic). Most recently, Dr. Engelman was appointed Director of Dermatologic Surgery at New York Medical College where she oversees the training of future Mohs surgeons and dermatologists. Dr. Engelman also serves as a scientific advisory board member of NuGene and consultant to numerous pharmaceutical companies including Genetech, Allergen, Galderma, Merz and L’Oreal.

About NuGene International, Inc.
NuGene International, Inc. specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing proprietary regenerative cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical products based on adipose derived human stem cell and human stem cell media. The US Department of Health and Human Services calls regenerative medicine the “next evolution of medical treatments.” The regenerative medical market which includes cosmeceuticals and pharmaceuticals was estimated at $7.2 Billion in the US in 2014 and is expected to rapidly grow in the coming years according to RNCOS Business Consultancy Service Global Cosmeceuticals Market report. NuGene’s cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical products are based on proprietary stem cell based regenerative formulations derived from non-controversial, adult human stem cell derived media obtained from adipose tissue. NuGene’s exclusive products combine its in-house advancements, proprietary technologies, and patent pending formulations. The company has four patents pending covering 15 unique applications. NuGene’s goal is to leverage its knowledge and expertise to develop age defying cosmeceutical skincare and hair care products in addition to pharmaceutical products based on the same regenerative science platform.

Tomorrow, “Transforming the Future for People and Planet” Event at United Nations Headquarters Will Introduce the People+Planet Project, a New Action Network for Social Good to Support the Sustainable Development Goals

New Platform Will Launch Its First Phase January 1, 2016, to Help the World Achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals Over the Next 15 Years

NEW YORK, NY, Sep 28, 2015 – Days after the United Nations General Assembly adopts the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a new post-2015 initiative to support these universal objectives will be introduced at an event in the UN Visitors Plaza “We the Peoples Hub.”

The People+Planet Project (P+PP) is a new action network for social good created to support the SDGs over the next 15 years. Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 29, from 4:00-6:00 pm, the P+PP will be unveiled to the public at an event called “Transforming the Future for People and Planet.”

Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning, will appear at the event to speak about the SDGs and the P+PP.

“The People+Planet Project will contribute to mobilization initiatives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We are excited to see organizations like The Global Brain join others to take a stand and support our shared future with projects in service of the planet and its people,” said Ms. Mohammed.

Launching its first phase January 1, 2016, the P+PP platform will support the global community’s necessary shift to more sustainable lifestyles and business models. The P+PP will provide content, tools, and calls to action to facilitate this transformation and help make the SDGs a mainstream priority until 2030.

The P+PP is an initiative from The Global Brain Foundation and the PVBLIC Foundation. Founder of The Global Brain and P+PP Campaign Director Natalia Vega-Berry created the P+PP platform to empower a community of individuals, businesses, nonprofits, NGOs and organizations to consume consciously, profit responsibly, and live purposefully to achieve the SDGs.

“I believe that it’s time for us to be active participants in shaping the solutions to the challenges our world faces,” said Vega-Berry. “Only we can build the future that we want.”

Chairman and Co-Founder of PVBLIC Foundation Sergio Fernandez de Cordova stated, “I am thrilled to be part of the launch of P+PP, a global action initiative, a needed factor in the implementation of the SDGs. At the event we will also make an announcement about PVBLIC’s long term commitment to the project.”

In addition to the aggregated resources on the P+PP, exclusive P+PP Campaigns will launch within the platform to engage different audiences around the economic, social and environmental foundations of sustainable development. These action-oriented, solutions-focused campaigns will help unite the global community to make the SDGs a reality. Only P+PP community members will have access to take part in the campaigns, the first of which will launch in early 2016.

“The People+Planet Project Campaigns are focused on actions, because we want to build a global environment in which sustainable living is commonplace; the campaigns will help move us in that direction,” said Vega-Berry. “I can’t say much about the campaigns at this time, but I can share that the first one will be an economic-focused campaign called ‘Every Dollar’ that will plant the seed of conscious consumerism by nurturing the realization that when we spend and invest our money, we are voting for the world we want to live in now and the world that future generations will be born into.”

Jules Schroeder, founder of CreateU, will be in attendance at the “Transforming the Future for People and Planet” event. CreateU is an online platform designed to reimagine higher education, striving to create an education system in which students are the visionaries of their course of study and ultimately their lives. The P+PP is proud to collaborate with CreateU as it pioneers contemporary education in support of the fourth SDG, to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. In support of this universal objective, CreateU will provide the worldwide community of students with an education experience unlike any other that is less costly and more current with the evolving world.

Accredited media are welcome to attend (so long as space remains) but must RSVP to Leia Schultz at leia@peopleplanetproject.org with their name, title and organization to be added to the guest list. There will be a short Q&A session during the event. Contact Leia to schedule an interview with P+PP Campaign Director Vega-Berry.

NextBigThingInvestor.com Releases Two-Part Interview With Tobin Smith and Galmed Pharmaceuticals

‘Next Big Thing Report’ Highlights Estimated 45 Million Addressable Market for Galmed’s (“GLMD”) Aramchol™ Treatment of NASH Liver Disease

NORTH BETHESDA, MD, Sep 28, 2015 – NextBigThingInvestor.com released an interview by Tobin Smith, CEO of NBT Equities Research and former Contributor/Guest Anchor for Fox News & Fox Business News with Josh Blacher, CFO of Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ: GLMD).

“During the ‘The Next Big Thing Report’ segment, Mr. Smith refers to Aramchol™ as a potential blockbuster treatment for the growing medical concern of fatty liver disease, including NASH, alongside other metabolic disorders including obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and adult diabetes. NASH is now estimated to affect about 45 million adults in the US and EU-5 alone,” said Galmed’s CFO, Josh Blacher.

“Aramchol™ is designed to root out the core problem of NASH, excess liver fat. Galmed’s clinical studies to date have demonstrated that Aramchol-treated patients reduced liver fat by 20 percent compared to untreated patients and improved important cardiovascular markers. In its 4 clinical trials to date, Aramchol™ also has not shown observable adverse side effects.”

Mr. Blacher concluded, “With no treatment for NASH patients currently available, our larger Phase IIb clinical trial — the ARREST Study — will test up to 2X higher dosages with hopes of an even better therapeutic effect and similar safety results. Additional exposure from Mr. Smith and the financial community is a key component to our success.”

Mr. Smith commented, “Assuming launch in 2020, recent published equity research indicates up to $3 billion a year peak market sales for Aramchol by 2024.”

Mr. Smith noted, “The underreported worldwide NASH liver disease epidemic is highly correlated to other metabolic-related disorders that continue to grow at alarming rates, such as elevated levels of LDL cholesterol and Type 2 diabetes worldwide. Without an effective treatment, the end-stage outlook for NASH patients is an increased risk of a life-threatening cardiovascular event (heart attack or stroke) or eventually liver transplantation, which is not only prohibitively expensive but impractical given transplantable liver availability.”

Stock Exchanges From Around the World Welcome New UN Sustainable Development Goals

NEW YORK, NY, Sep 24, 2015 – As world leaders gather in New York to launch the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), capital market leaders gathered to welcome these new global goals on sustainability. Chief capital market regulators and CEOs of stock exchanges, investment houses, and large companies joined senior UN officials for the Sustainable Stock Exchanges’ (SSE) SDG Leaders Luncheon hosted by the New York Stock Exchange.

Covering a broad range of environmental, social and economic issues, the SDGs will shape and focus the global agenda for the next 15 years. The world’s governments have committed to achieving these ambitious goals, but their implementation will not be possible without concerted efforts from the private sector and new policy frameworks to promote responsible investment in sustainable development.

More than 30 high-level leaders of business and government vocally asserted that from sustainability reporting and mobilizing finance, to gender equality and global partnerships, stock exchanges have an important role to play in promoting corporate practices and facilitating investment that will advance the SDGs. Participants included leaders from Citi, Egyptian Exchange, London Stock Exchange Group, Nasdaq, Nestle, Nigeria Stock Exchange, Morgan Stanley.

The exchanges celebrated the launch of the SDGs with a special Closing Bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange. Ringing the closing bell was Executive Director of the Principles for Responsible Investment, Fiona Reynolds, and the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Mukhisa Kituyi. The SDG Leader’s Luncheon marks the start of further work the SSE initiative will undertake, working in partnerships with capital market actors and encouraging the implementation of the SDGs.

To mark the occasion, four stock exchanges announced their public commitments to advance sustainability in their market and joined the SSE initiative as SSE Partner Exchanges: Colombo (Sri Lanka), Kazakhstan, Mauritius, and Rwanda.

The four new Partner Exchanges commented on joining the SSE:

“I believe that being part of the Sustainable Stock Exchange initiative demonstrates our commitment towards adopting sustainable business practices and encouraging our stakeholders to do the same,” said Vajira Kulatilaka, Chairman, Colombo Stock Exchange. “We endeavor to engage with member exchanges, who are part of the initiative, and collectively work towards sustainable policy initiatives which will help capital markets across the globe create better corporate citizens in the areas of environment, society and governance.” Sutheash Balasubramaniam, Director of the UN Global Compact Network Sri Lanka welcomed the news of Colombo Stock Exchange joining the SSE, saying, “This will create a new dimension to the Sri Lankan financial market that will encourage companies to integrate sustainability in a more meaningful manner.”

“Kazakhstan Stock Exchange is pleased to join SSE Initiative. Undoubtedly, sustainable development of the stock market is very important to the country’s economic growth,” said Chief Executive Officer Yeszhan Birtanov. “By joining this initiative, we will be able to contribute much more to sustainable development of our country’s economy and will gain access to additional information on sustainability that we could further distribute among our clients from financial and real sectors of Kazakhstani economy.”

“We are pleased to join the SSE as a Partner Exchange. Earlier this month, the Stock Exchange of Mauritius launched a sustainability index (the SEMSI) to promote sustainable business practices amongst our listed companies,” said Chief Executive Officer Sunil Benimadhu. “We now want to step up our commitment to the sustainable development cause. We are also keen to collaborate with our peer exchanges on this global platform to explore how we can help to mobilize finance in order to support the SDGs in the coming years.”

“Rwanda Stock Exchange’s participation in the SSE serves to confirm our commitment that our market will not be left behind in all efforts geared to building our economies and capital market in a responsible and rational manner,” said Pierre Célestin Rwabukumba, Chief Executive Officer. “What we do today will shape our future; if we mean survival then we must plan sustainably and collectively, hopefully with no excuses from anyone.”

About the Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative
The SSE is a peer-to-peer learning platform for exploring how exchanges — in collaboration with investors, regulators, and companies — can encourage sustainable investment and enhance corporate transparency, and ultimately performance, on ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) issues. The SSE is convened by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Global Compact, the UN Environment Program’s Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). All interested parties are encouraged to visit the SSE website (www.SSEinitiative.org) for more information on specific exchanges’ sustainability efforts and further opportunities to advance the integration of sustainability within capital markets. About Avigail Perl
Avigail Perl is the founder and CEO of CupCare, a feminine consumer goods company providing innovative hygienic beauty solutions for women. Perl came up with the idea of placing a disposable liner inside a bra when experiencing discomfort and frustration from her own bras. After going through different phases of prototypes and several rounds of beta testing, a specialized manufacturing line is in place at a state of the art facility. The CupCare liners will be available later this year.

About CupCare
CupCare is a patent-pending product designed to make bras more comfortable, protect the skin below the breast and keep the area dry and hygienic. “Women experience an array of issues when it comes to their bras! Whether it is discomfort and pain from the bra pressing against the body for many hours, or moisture collecting under the breast, women cannot wait to take their bra off at the end of a long day,” said Avigail Perl, founder and CEO of CupCare. “Bras are also expensive, delicate and easily ruined. Our new disposable bra liner is a simple solution to these problems and offers women a way to stay comfortable and dry, while having their bra lifespan last approx. 30% longer. It is where smart meets sexy.” Research has shown that the average woman owns 9 bras, of which she only wears 3 on a regular basis, proving that finding a good, affordable and comfortable bra is extremely difficult for many women. The CupCare Bra Liner is a supplementary, disposable product that warps the inside bottom part of the bra; It protects the skin below the breast, absorbs sweat, thus providing hours of comfort and helps save the bra. Its unique design can be adjusted to fit any type of bra in order to help make a woman’s bra experience perfect. CupCare is made of three layers of non-woven fabric: The top layer is an extremely soft fabric that remains dry on the surface, the middle layer absorbs sweat and the bottom layer protects the bra. The whole liner is less than 2 millimeters thick and is hypoallergenic. To learn more about CupCare please visit us at www.cupcareliner.com
