“Impacto Latino” Latino Gathering at the United Nations “We the People Hub”

NEW YORK, NY, Sep 24, 2015PVBLIC Foundation has partnered with Univision News, the award-winning news division of Univision Communications, Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, and the “We the Peoples Hub” powered by UNICEF, UN Millennium Campaign and UNDP to host “Impacto Latino” 2015, a groundbreaking event that will showcase prominent figures from Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic community who are promoting social good. The summit will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City on September 28 and 29, 2015, during the annual UN General Assembly meetings.

“Impacto Latino” 2015 will feature Spanish-language panel discussions and talks on a variety of issues including youth engagement, women’s empowerment, and the effective use of business and media to drive positive social change. The summit will be hosted by Univision News anchor Enrique Acevedo; sessions will be moderated by Fusion anchor Mariana Atencio. It will be attended by a group of influential leaders from across the Americas.

Stock Exchanges From Around the World Welcome New UN Sustainable Development Goals

NEW YORK, NY, Sep 24, 2015 – As world leaders gather in New York to launch the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), capital market leaders gathered to welcome these new global goals on sustainability. Chief capital market regulators and CEOs of stock exchanges, investment houses, and large companies joined senior UN officials for the Sustainable Stock Exchanges’ (SSE) SDG Leaders Luncheon hosted by the New York Stock Exchange.

Covering a broad range of environmental, social and economic issues, the SDGs will shape and focus the global agenda for the next 15 years. The world’s governments have committed to achieving these ambitious goals, but their implementation will not be possible without concerted efforts from the private sector and new policy frameworks to promote responsible investment in sustainable development.

More than 30 high-level leaders of business and government vocally asserted that from sustainability reporting and mobilizing finance, to gender equality and global partnerships, stock exchanges have an important role to play in promoting corporate practices and facilitating investment that will advance the SDGs. Participants included leaders from Citi, Egyptian Exchange, London Stock Exchange Group, Nasdaq, Nestle, Nigeria Stock Exchange, Morgan Stanley.

The exchanges celebrated the launch of the SDGs with a special Closing Bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange. Ringing the closing bell was Executive Director of the Principles for Responsible Investment, Fiona Reynolds, and the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Mukhisa Kituyi. The SDG Leader’s Luncheon marks the start of further work the SSE initiative will undertake, working in partnerships with capital market actors and encouraging the implementation of the SDGs.

To mark the occasion, four stock exchanges announced their public commitments to advance sustainability in their market and joined the SSE initiative as SSE Partner Exchanges: Colombo (Sri Lanka), Kazakhstan, Mauritius, and Rwanda.

The four new Partner Exchanges commented on joining the SSE:

“I believe that being part of the Sustainable Stock Exchange initiative demonstrates our commitment towards adopting sustainable business practices and encouraging our stakeholders to do the same,” said Vajira Kulatilaka, Chairman, Colombo Stock Exchange. “We endeavor to engage with member exchanges, who are part of the initiative, and collectively work towards sustainable policy initiatives which will help capital markets across the globe create better corporate citizens in the areas of environment, society and governance.” Sutheash Balasubramaniam, Director of the UN Global Compact Network Sri Lanka welcomed the news of Colombo Stock Exchange joining the SSE, saying, “This will create a new dimension to the Sri Lankan financial market that will encourage companies to integrate sustainability in a more meaningful manner.”

“Kazakhstan Stock Exchange is pleased to join SSE Initiative. Undoubtedly, sustainable development of the stock market is very important to the country’s economic growth,” said Chief Executive Officer Yeszhan Birtanov. “By joining this initiative, we will be able to contribute much more to sustainable development of our country’s economy and will gain access to additional information on sustainability that we could further distribute among our clients from financial and real sectors of Kazakhstani economy.”

“It’s On Us” Campaign Launches New ‘One Thing’ PSA

WASHINGTON, DC, Sep 8, 2015 – As college students return to campus for the new school year, the “It’s On Us” campaign released a new PSA today titled ‘One Thing.’ In addition, the campaign announced today new partnerships with the Ad Council and Chegg.

The ‘One Thing’ PSA stresses that sex without consent is rape, and features Zoe Saldana, Josh Hutcherson, Johnathan Cho, Nina Dobrev, the Haim sisters, Minka Kelly, Matt McGorry, and Jessica Szohr. The PSA reminds students as they return to school or begin their freshman year that sex isn’t sex unless consent is given.

“Consent is one of the most important things two people can give each other, and without it, it’s rape,” Anne Johnson, Executive Director of Generation Progress said. “More sexual assaults occur on college campuses during the first few months of the school, so now is a critical time to remind students that consent should never be assumed.”

The “It’s On Us” PSA was made possible through support from the PVBLIC Foundation, Mekanism, the Kering Corporate Foundation, and The Ad Council.

In conjunction with the release of the PSA, the “It’s On Us” campaign is proud to announce new partnerships in 2015:

  • The Kering Corporate Foundation which is committed on a two-year partnership, will engage its employees and support campus organizations to fight sexual assault.
  • The Ad Council, the non-profit leader of public service campaigns, will be distributing the PSAs this week to its network of more than 20,000 media outlets nationwide. The ads will air and run in time and space donated by the media.
  • Chegg will work with “It’s On Us” on an original polling project to study baseline attitudes of students on sexual assault. The company will also share the “It’s On Us” message with their users and across their multiple platforms that reach millions of students and parents annually. As the student hub, Chegg makes higher education more affordable, more accessible and more successful for students.

The “It’s On Us” campaign 85 partner organizations will promote the PSA this fall and engaging local student groups in talking about consent and ending campus sexual assault.

NuGene Enters Into MOU With Bassett Salon Solutions to Distribute and Rollout NuGene to 7,000 Potential New Accounts

Bassett to Launch Market Test to Assess Customer Acceptance

IRVINE, CA, Sep 9, 2015 – NuGene International, Inc. In December 2015, the world’s leaders will assemble in Paris for COP21 in an effort to sign a meaningful, universal global agreement on climate change. The song’s producers hope that “Love Song to The Earth” will bring the issue to new audiences and inspire them to reach out to their leaders to demand climate action. The artists will be asking their fans to “Share the Love Song” and “Take Climate Action Now” by signing a petition that will be delivered to world leaders at the beginning of the climate conference.

Songwriter/producer Toby Gad explains, “When the UN asked me to write a song about climate change I felt honored and inspired. So, my friends and I wrote ‘Love Song to The Earth’, focusing on a positive message about how precious our only planet is. We went on to produce the all-star version of ‘Love Song’ for a September 2015 release. Jerry Cope, a dedicated activist and powerful visionary, was instrumental in pulling the strings together for the single and masterminding the videos. I hope this song will broaden the audience for this urgent message and give the politicians emotional support for meaningful climate agreement in Paris 2015.”
