NEW YORK, NY–(Oct 8, 2013) – On Sat Nov 19th, 2011 business executive and entrepreneur Michael Caridi was knighted by the Knights of Malta for his philanthropic efforts throughout the world. Today Michael Caridi continues his efforts by building water wells, construction, investing in small businesses and lending a helping hand where needed.

The Order of Malta is one of the few Orders created in the Middle Ages and still active today. The knighthood nature of the Order has kept its moral value, characterized by the spirit of service, sacrifice and discipline of today’s Knights of Malta. Battles are no longer fought with swords, but with the peaceful tools of the knight against disease, poverty, social isolation and intolerance.

About Michael Caridi

Michael Caridi was born in Brooklyn and raised in Catskill, NY. He currently resides in Greenwich, Connecticut and has offices in Mid-town Manhattan, NY. He is married and has four children. A graduate of St. John’s University, Michael Caridi obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Michael Caridi’s business endeavors span various industries. Among Michael Caridi’s most notable achievements are: lease acquisition, obtaining the air rights, and negotiation of the sale of Harlem Park, a mixed‐use project in Harlem, NYC; the lease acquisition, financing, gutting and full‐scale rehab of the 600‐room Holiday Inn Hotel on West 57th Street in Manhattan; the acquisition, financing and construction of a 204‐unit, $70 million condominium and rental complex in Palisades Park, New Jersey; and the acquisition, renovation and sale of 96 co‐op apartments in Long Beach, NY. Other recent projects include involvement in an Italian Cosmetic Wipe company, an eco‐friendly plastics and electronics company that had products in 70,000 retail stores, and a diverse mix of independent business ventures including residential and commercial property‐ownership, restaurant owner, mortgage banking, ship salvaging and dismantling, hotel ownership and development, security services, magazine publishing, and alcohol/non‐alcoholic import and export.

Michael Caridi’s philanthropic efforts have rivaled those of his business successes. In the past he has served on the Board of Directors of the Coalition of Italian American Associations; the Republican Leadership Council; The Forum Club; The National Ethnic and Charitable Organization; and The Italo American Foundation. Michael Caridi is a proud member of the Lumen Institute, and supporter of the New York City Police Foundation and C.O.R. E. (Congress of Racial Equality).
